Many of us who find our way to 12-step fellowships are uncomfortable with the “God stuff” - often we've had negative experiences with religion earlier in our lives. Even after accepting that we can use our own conception of God, religion itself may still seem scary. We don't expect that ministers will be quite as open to our talk of “God, as we understand God.”

We understand you. Being alcoholics and addicts ourselves, having had many of the same reservations, we recognize that the Divine speaks to different people in different ways. At Step by Step, we offer the opportunity to explore, from an interfaith perspective, ancient "shares" concerning spiritual principles and how these individuals conceived of a Higher Power, in the hopes that we may find something we can apply in our own lives. We believe that exploring the world's faith traditions can broaden and deepen our understanding and practice of the twelve steps, and that recognizing the commonalities can help us to be more tolerant of those traditions.

Open to anyone, anywhere along the path of recovery from any form of addiction or compulsion, or who is simply interested in using the twelve step path as a means of connecting with the Divine.
